Taxes are unpopular- that's no secret! At the end of the day we are dipping into the fruits of our labour.
Not only that but everything is getting increasingly complicated. For most people taxes are an impenetrable jungle where only new laws, regulations and decrees happily flourish!
Furthermore it is an area shrouded in official jargon; a jungle most fear to tread without the aid of an interpreter.
Even though many of these reservations are unfounded we never seriously question the basic fact that we pay taxes. Where a society has needs, it requires the means to satisfy them. Maybe we ought to learn to view taxes in their traditional sense, namely as the individual's recognition of and obligation to our social order.
It is understandable however that everyone is anxious to keep his tax bill as low as possible. In order to strike a balance between a such ideals and a client's social duty, we have to assess all his economic and personal circumstances; income, assets, expenses etc.
The complexity of this task demands from us again and again a comprehensive approach. As well as sound detailed knowledge of tax, economics and law, we feel that it is at least as important to have an intuitive understanding of our client's personal plans and outlook on life.
Many a successful idea is born much more easily during a relaxing stroll along the beach than in an exhausting meeting.
A key concept is tax reform: We all know plenty of reasons in favour of reforming the tax system. Instead of a plethora of individual tax laws we hear clamouring year in year out for the introduction of a clear, concise, formal system of consistent laws.
One thing is however very clear; in neither the private nor commercial sector will anyone in the foreseeable future be relieved of his statutory obligation to pay tax.
Against this background though, our legislators have introduced new legal structures which give new prospects to many organisations and incentives to others to start up new businesses.
In exploiting all legal possibilities it is less and less the traditional solutions that promise a business success but increasingly the creative, tailor- made approaches.
At Hamann & Partner we don't just help our clients to recognise and implement opportunities as they come but above all enable them to concentrate on the real work to be done in their businesses.
Act not react! Our approach to consultation is preventative. That is to say, we strive to recognise problems in their infancy not only once the horse has already bolted!
